Abstract: This era of ‘crisis economy’ that society is witnessing has created an industry demand of low expenditure on recourses but at the same time a high added value. The rules of the game are changing and a paradigm shift is occurring. Competence as a result of producing top end results is the new concept. Competence is becoming a derivate of efficiency and high added value. The innovative creative approach is needed to satisfy demanding criteria we are facing. Innovation comes from talent. Talented individuals put together creative teams automatically focused to invent high added value products. Based on new paradigm criteria, such top result producing teams and individuals become most competent experts in their field.  Status of competent expert in a new paradigm is given by the end users of the product-service. This kind of value based thinking produces breakthrough results in a face of current world situation. Focus shifts from competition to supporting creativity and innovation that is based on unique talents of every individual involved in the process. Greater goals are achieved in shorter periods of time.  Xmodul© is a tool created on high added value focused thinking. The practical usage of the Xmodul© in human management field and goals setting environments will be demonstrated and the examples from the field showing measurable results will be covered during the speech.

COURAGE

What is / isn’t courage?

Often when we want to achieve a goal, try out public speaking, open a company or start a new business , go for a promotion or when we want to ask somebody to go out with us on a date, often the only thing missing is courage.

In an English dictionary the word courage is explained: courage- the ability to face danger or pain; the confidence to act according to one’s beliefs

Did you ever notice how brave the main character in the movie or in the book looks when he faces his entire enemy on a battlefield? Or when he goes into burning building that is going to collapse at any moment to rescue a trapped person? Sometimes it looks like he is entering a certain death! Doesn’t he look fireless? It looks like he is able to put all his feeling about his safety aside and does it regardless what danger he might face. He goes in action!

This is the most common picture in peoples’ minds, how courage should look like. Courageous person is a person without fear or at least he is not allowing the emotion of fear to get to him.

“When I will feel strong enough, I will go in action.” “Let me first read this last book that will give me the knowledge and skills that I need and then the first thing that I will do is action!” “When I will earn enough money I will be happy.” “One more pint and I will invite her/him on a date.” “I’ll just wait for the moment that feels right and then when I will be sure that this is it I will open my company, change a job, stop smoking, start sawing, buy a flat, get married...” “If I were only brave enough, then everything would be different.” “Look at him how brave he is! He just does it, no question asked!” All of these are examples of internal monologs, thoughts, conversations between friends, at work, which almost never produce any results. WHY?

Because above mentioned thinking and dwelling is not consistent with the definition of courage. In an English dictionary the word courage is explained: courage- the ability to face danger or pain; if we put it in simple words means, do something despite feelings of fear!

Our subconscious limiting mechanisms are presenting to us that courage is a fireless state of being. What follows from this definition that limiting mechanisms are imposing to us about courage is that we strive to achieve an emotional state without fear. Only when state without fear is achieved we will go in action.

From time to time we check our feelings regarding certain goals or actions that we want to take. In most cases the feeling of fear is still there so we decide to pros pond the action and to wait for a “better” (fireless) moment. This is how we miss great opportunities. We procrastinate with action and sometimes years go by before we wake up and do something.

Courage - the ability to face danger or pain. Regardless what our feelings might be! If we do not feel fear we do not need courage! Why would we need courage in a situation that is not frightening to us?! When we see a person doing something that we are afraid, we instantly think that we are dealing with courageous person. If the person is not afraid of the action that he/she is performing it is not courageous by definition from the dictionary. Definition is clear: courage- the ability to face danger or pain;

SUMMARY: Do not fight fear. Do not try to escape from your own feelings. It is an illusion. You can’t win. You can’t escape out of your own skin. Do not deny or cower up your feelings or act as that they do not exist. Do not join workshops, seminars or read books in order to escape fear. One that acts despite danger, fear and uncertainty is courageous person!

Where I am from, we name ones that are not courageous with “wimp”. It is natural that nobody wants to be called a wimp, so we strive to do whatever necessary that we would be known as courageous. Again I will refer to the English dictionary: courage- the ability to face danger or pain; from this definition we can conclude the following: courageous person is not someone like robot, without feelings and performing results like machine. It is also not someone meditating, ignoring or waiting the threat or feelings to go away. Courageous person is simply just a “wimp” in action!

Do not wait... do it.
